2014 - 2015 Officers
President - Vivian Chen
Hi everyone! My name is Vivian and I'm the President of the Davis Aggie Lions Club this year. I'm a fourth year Biological Science major with a NPB emphasis and I'm an aspiring physician's assistant. I've been a Leo for 4 years and a Lion for 3 years. I'm looking forward to an exciting year working with everyone and I can't wait to get started with all the exciting projects we have planned for this year. Besides Lions, I'm also the Outreach Committee Co-Head for the Willow Clinic, a student run clinic that provides free healthcare to the homeless population in Sacramento. In my spare time I cook, play badminton, watch a LOT of TV, go on Yelp & Tumblr, and do photography. My favorite shows include comedies like HIMYM and Parks and Recreation to shows like Supernatural, Dr. Who, Fringe, and more. I can't wait to meet and work with everyone and I'm looking forward to a great year of service and club growth! Also... if anyone ever wants to go on a food adventure I'm always up for it :P I basically live on Yelp and I'm always looking for new places to try and review. |
Vice President (Service)- Kelly Kuo (Fall 2014-Winter 2015)
Hi folks. I'm Kelly Kuo and I'll be serving as your Vice President of service this year. Some quick facts: I'm a sophomore majoring in clinical nutrition. I'm--unsurprisingly--a food fanatic (lovin' all the Davis restaurants), running junky, and amateur coffee connoisseur (find me at BioBrew!). I fix old bikes in my free time so don't be afraid to call if you run into problems with your cycle. So, why D.A.L.C.? My history with the lions programs branches from my involvement at the junior level with Leo club; I'm proud to continue serving as a Lion via the Davis Aggies today. The world moves through people like you and me; real results are produced when we collaborate through such organizations. Here, you can make the projects in your head a reality and have the pack be there every step of the way. So, find your voice with lions! |
Vice President (Fundraising)- Julia Nguyen
Hello! My name is Julia and I will be serving as your V.P. of Fundraising this year. I am currently a fourth year transfer majoring in International Agriculture Development (IAD). I have three jobs, two internships, and volunteer with My Sister's House of Sacramento as a CA certified Volunteer advocate when I can. Although my workload keeps me quite busy, I do try to make personal time for things like traveling, baking, sleeping, hanging out with friends, and many many others. If anything, just know that I love food! I have been fortunate enough to have participated in a multitude of leadership development opportunities and hope to provide members with the tools to reach their desired potential through Lions. My main focus is to make such goals accomplishable for everyone, regardless of a member's financial capabilities. I look forward to working with everyone and will do my best to help members find their inner Lion! |
Secretary- Kelly Otsuka
Hi! My name is Kelly Otsuka and I am the Secretary of the Davis Aggie Lions Club! I am a fourth year Microbiology major. Aside from being a part of the Davis Aggie Lions Club, I am also an active member in the co-ed fraternity Phi Sigma Pi, for which I also hold the Secretary position. I really enjoy community service and seeing the delivered results in our Davis community. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing, reading, sewing, and any other hands-on projects I can do. I look forward to a great year as Secretary, and meeting all our new Members! |
Treasurer- Kristin Slingerland
Hello! I'm Kristin Slingerland and I am the Davis Aggie Lions Club Treasurer. I am a fourth year Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior major here at UC Davis. I hope to go to medical school after graduating from UC Davis, and eventually I'd like to become a Pulmonologist. Outside of being a Lion, I work for Student Housing at the Tercero Dorms Area Service Desk, as well as in the UCDMC Neurology Clinic. I am very proud to be a Davis Aggie Lion, and of the impact we make in our community! Every event counts, and as an officer I will do my best to make sure our club continues to thrive. I'm looking forward to a fantastic year with all my fellow lions and I cannot wait to serve with everyone! |
Membership Director- Allyson Camino
Hey everyone! My name is Allyson Camino, and I am the Membership Director. I am a second year Political Science - Public Service Major, and am aspiring to become a lawyer and participate with the local and state government in Sacramento. With that said, law school is the tentative plan after college, but my bigger hopes are to be civically engaged, actively serve the community, and advocate for the voiceless caught within social injustices. What distinguished Lions Club to me from the other community service clubs was that it simply focused on serving the local Davis and global community as one collective body. My experience last year made me feel as though I was part of something greater, connecting and building relationships with equally committed students and community members as well as leaving wherever we worked better than it was before. In addition to the Aggie pride here in Davis, you can't help but feel the shared renowned Lions pride! Roar! I'm also Secretary of the Pre-Law Association at UC Davis and am heavily involved in the Social Justice Missions team within Davis' InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. In my downtime (if that exists), I love listening to music and spoken word, writing, watching my favorite TV show Suits, and eating! It's so hard to choose a favorite place to eat in Davis, but I never get tired of Sushi Unlimited! I'm excited to see what this year has in store for all of us. You all should join Davis Aggie Lions and become a part of our family while making a meaningful impact in Davis! |
Director of Internal Affairs- Allison Ness
Hey everyone! My name is Allison and I am the Director of Internal Affairs. I am currently a third year Chemistry major with an emphasis on Forensics and hope to work in a crime lab after graduating from UC Davis. Besides being a part of the Davis Aggie Lions Club, I am also a member of the Chemistry Club on campus. In my spare time I enjoy relaxing with friends, swimming, watching TV (my favorite show right now is Arrow!), watching movies, listening to music, and eating great food with friends (everyone should check out Sugar Daddies and the Dumpling House). This will be my second year as a Lion after being a Leo for three years. I am super excited to meet all of the new members and making some great friends. |
Publicity/Outreach- Monica Davalos (Fall 2014-Winter 2015)
Hey guys! My name is Monica and I'm the Publicity Chair for the Davis Aggie Lions Club. I'm currently a second year Political Science and Managerial Economics double major (that's if I don't end up changing it again). Along with being a proud Lion, I work as a student assistant in the ARC and Pavilion, as well as a tutor at a middle school. I would have to say that my favorite place to eat in Davis, as cliché as it may sound, is the Thai Canteen. Their tofu and Thai iced tea is the bomb. I mainly joined Aggie Lions because I wanted to give back to the community in ways that actually matter and make a difference in everyday lives. Being a part of an organization that has so much to offer is an amazing experience that everyone should be a part of. I can't wait to meet all the future lions and watch the club grow to its full potential! |
