2013-2014 Officers
President - Courtney Barry
Hi everyone! My name is Courtney Barry and I am the President of Davis Aggie Lions Club! I am currently a 4th year Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology major and an English minor. I hope to go into wildlife rehabilitation or environmental education with my degree or, if all else fails, become an event planner! Along with being a part of the newly chartered Davis Aggie Lions Club, I am also an active member in the sorority Kappa Gamma Delta and I hold a job as a student assistant working in the BIS2B labs for the Evolution and Ecology department at UC Davis. In many towns in my home area, I have always seen the Lions logo and wondered what they did. Lucky for me this past year Lions came to UC Davis with hopes of starting a student organization! I am so lucky and fortunate to be part of such a renowned organization that is known for making such a large impact on every community it touches. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me! |
Vice President (Community Service)- Vivian Chen
Hi! My name is Vivian and I'm the Membership Director. I am a second year Cell Bio major and an aspiring Physician's Assistant. I have been a Leo for 4 years and a Lion for 2 years. In my spare time I love playing badminton, doing photography, editing websites (like this one :P) and watching TV. I am a huge BBC nerd and I also love comedies like Community, HIMYM, Psych, Parks & Rec and shows like House, American Horror Story, Fringe, etc. I am also a huge Kpop fan and I absolutely love the band Big Bang. Besides Lions Club I am involved in Photography Club and So-Kpop. I look forward to a great year with everyone! |
Secretary- Donna Farvard
Hey there! My name is Donna and I am the Secretary. I'm a fourth year Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior Major. I aim to become an orthopedic surgeon, so med school is the next step for me after graduation. This is my first time working with the Lions and I'm loving every minute of it (Get it? Cuz I take the minutes). I also make really bad jokes. I'm also an intern with CALPIRG, working as the Statewide Executive Committee Vice Chair, the Trainings Board Member for the UCD Chapter, and the Campaign Coordinator for the Energy Service Corps Campaign. I've been involved with CALPIRG for 4 years and have taken on a variety of leadership roles in the organization so I've learned a lot of skills that I hope to carry over to Lions. I also work at the Dandekar Lab on campus, working with transgenic plants and genetic material. You might think "Gosh, she does so much already, why is she in Lions?!" The answer is easy, I like to be an active and involved member of my community and I feel that joining Lions is a great way to do just that. So everyone who's reading this should join right now and become active and involved as well so we can all make a really big impact in our community! |
Treasurer- Bryce Fick
Hello, my name is Bryce Fick and I'm the charter Treasurer for Davis Aggie Lions Club. I transfered to Davis last year (2012) and am now in my final year of undergraduate study. I'm majoring in Sociology and am involved in a variety of other campus and non-campus organizations. I'm the External President of Golden Key Honors Society at Davis, the External Coordinator for the Davis Food Recovery Network, a board member of the committee for Peace and Justice at Davis Community Church, a volunteer with the Green Party's No Corporate Money Campaign and a volunteer with the City of Davis. I'm planning on pursuing my Juris Doctorate after graduating from UC Davis and hope to eventually practice law and participate in local and state politics. I'm always open to intellectual discussion of current issues and affairs surrounding UC Davis and California and am very happy to be surrounded by the supportive and community-oriented members of the Lions Club. I joined because I wanted to be a part of a community service organization that delivered results, not empty promises and hot air. I'm happy to say that I found what I was looking for Lions Club and am looking forward to a great year as the Davis Aggie Treasurer! |
Membership Director- Sean Guerra
Hello! My name is Sean Guerra, Membership Chair of DALC as well as a Features writer for The California Aggie. I am a 3rd year Sustainable Ag. major. I was drawn to Lions last year because I wanted to become a constructive part of the Davis community. There's a genuine selflessness that inspires the club and I really want members to inspire others to aid through our own collective actions. I love reading even though I often don't finish the book, I love the art of conversation even though I am an introvert, and I love Mexican food even though I can't handle the spice. I plan to gain a lot from this experience helping others with a group of active, friendly, and creative individuals and hopefully you can too. Join Aggie Lions! |
Director of Internal Affairs- Saaya Sakurai
Hi everyone! My name is Saaya and I'm currently a 3rd year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major. There are so many things I'm interested in but as of right now, I'm an aspiring reconstructive plastic surgeon. Hopefully I'll be accepted to med school next year. Fingers crossed. Aside from Davis Aggie Lions Club, I am involved in other clubs such as the Japanese-American Student Society and the UC Davis-affiliated Bayanihan Clinic. In my spare time I enjoy cooking (mainly because I love to eat), DIY projects, and watching White Collar, The Big Bang Theory, Top Gear, and anything by Disney. This is my first year as a Lion and I consider myself extremely fortunate to be a part of such a wonderful organization while meeting exceptionally intelligent and talented individuals along the way. I'm so excited to meet new members and I hope all will be just as (if not more) enthusiastic about being a Lion as I am now! |
